From Your Minister of Congregational Care

Dear Folks,

As we approach the halfway mark of 2017, I’d like to offer a summary of our Care Team activities thus far.  As I shared with the board, we have ministered to broken bones, broken hearts, and everything in between.  Together, we’ve made 40 visits, over 120 phone calls, over 60 emails and texts, and we’ve had a total of 10 transportation assists.  We’ve delivered over 20 meals, sent out over 20 requests for Cards of Caring, and we’ve assisted with one wedding and one Celebration of Life.

Much gratitude goes to the Care Team, the Pastoral Associates, and to all the volunteers on the casserole, card, and transportation lists.  Every kindness is a gift.  Every call, every bite of a delivered meal, every piece of mail is tangible evidence of your love and caring.

If you would like a joy or sorrow shared during a Sunday service or included in our weekly announcements, please email joysandsorrows@puuc.org.  To respect confidentiality, we only list or name the joys and concerns you’ve shared with us.

Our theme for the month of June is “Soul.” May we continue to minister to one another’s souls as best we can, and as individuals, I invite you to consider the following quote by Anne Sexton:

“Put your ear down close to your soul, and listen hard.”

Peace to you,

Rev. Mary Frances Comer
