From the Annual Commitment Team
I hope the beginning of summer is finding everyone well. While you are swimming, hiking, camping, traveling, or whatever your summer plans may be – your Annual Commitment Team (ACT) is busy planning for the remainder of this church year and for the upcoming church year.
Let me first explain what ACT is about. Under the direction of our lead minister, Rev. Mary Frances, we are responsible for running our annual canvass. This is the 2-3 week time period where we approach all members and ask for a financial commitment to support the mission and vision of Piedmont Unitarian Universalist Church. This pledge enables our leadership to plan, budget, and spend wisely. Our team is busy planning for this next annual canvass. This will take place in September and will cover the 2019 church year.
Another goal of ACT is working to change our culture around the annual pledge drive. We hope to promote giving as a spiritual practice out of gratitude. We definitely want to use the pledge drive as an opportunity to receive your good ideas as to what is working and how we can improve our shared ministry. You can also expect frequent updates as to how your communal resources are helping to make a difference within the church and in the larger community.
I ask anyone that would like to further discuss the role of ACT or pledging to please call or email me at the contact information below. I would love to hear from you! I am excited about our church’s future. The church staff, leadership, and members are all contributing ideas and plans to make this a great year. I hope you feel the urge to be a part as well.
In peace and gratitude,
