Get To Know Piedmont UU Church Members

Diane

I was born in Ohio but have lived in North Carolina most of my life and in Salisbury for close to 40 years! I retired from the Veterans Administration 5 1/2 years ago after almost 34 years as a Registered Nurse in behavioral health.
I can’t remember exactly when I started attending Piedmont Unitarian Universalist Church but it was about 9 years ago and joined about 8 years ago. After becoming disillusioned with the church I had been attending and religion in general, Unitarian Universalism was the answer I had been seeking. This spiritual community is such an important part of my life. I am currently on the Salisbury Gathering steering team and the Care Team.
I’ve been married to Seth for 29 years. I have 5 children and 6 grandchildren whom I adore. (But all grandparents say that).
I am also involved in the American Association of University Women (AAUW), vice chair of my Democratic precinct, and a volunteer with Bread Riot, a local non profit that supports small farmers and provides locally produced food to those who don’t have access.
I enjoy walking/hiking, reading, traveling, following current events, and mostly spending time with friends and family.

Additional Comments from Anne L.:
Diane has served as co-chair of the church’s important Care Team, providing various types of support to members at important times. Her husband Seth is President of Temple Israel. The Salisbury Gathering and Temple Israel now share a chapel room together at John Calvin Presbyterian Church. Recently a Temple Israel member crafted a beautiful wooden Ark for the Torah, so that it would have a beautiful home in its new meeting space. . On October 7, the Temple invited members from both Piedmont Unitarian Universalist Church and John Calvin to celebrate Simchat Torah. Six members of Piedmont UU Church were in attendance.
