CUUPs

Covenant of UU Pagans

Piedmont Unitarian Universalist Church CUUPs (Covenant of Unitarian Universalist Pagans) Chapter exists for people who are interested in Paganism, devotional polytheism, or Earth-centered spiritual practices.

CUUPs meets monthly online for a discussion group and bookclub, and sponsors seasonal rituals (e.g., Solstice and Equinox observances) in the sanctuary.

Bookclub and Discussion Group
“The Best Pagan Bookclub on the Internet 2024”
We meet on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. on Zoom for a bookclub and discussion group. Everyone is invited to join the discussions, even if they have not read the book. We also try to invite the authors of the books we read to join us as guests.
If you would like to join in on a Zoom meeting, please email
cuups@puuc.org for that information.

Seasonal and Sabbat Rituals
We aim to host eight in-person rituals throughout the year to honor the Wheel of the Year. These rituals often involve erecting an altar, creating a sacred space, calling in the elements, chanting, singing, and drumming, and sharing a snack afterwards. These Wheel of the Year rituals celebrate the changing seasons by marking the solstices, equinoxes, and the midpoints between them.

  • Imbolc/Candlemas (early February)
  • Ostara/Spring Equinox (mid-March)
  • Beltane (early May)
  • Midsummer/Litha/Summer Solstice (late June)
  • Lammas/Lughnasadh (early August)
  • Mabon/Fall Equinox (mid-September)
  • Samhain (late October)
  • Yule/Winter Solstice (late December)

Our celebrations are usually near the actual date of the holiday, but may be on the weekend before or after to make it easier for people to gather, so please check the church calendar for the most current information. You can click here for our current in-person gathering health safety guidelines.
