Membership
Membership in the Piedmont Unitarian Universalist Church is open to all who embrace the ideals of our covenant and wish to make this church their spiritual home. Membership implies a willingness to share one's resources and talents and give one the opportunity to determine the direction of the church.
The Piedmont Unitarian Universalist Church is no greater than the vitality brought to it by its members. We would love to have you with us.
STEPS TO MEMBERSHIP: We welcome into membership anyone 14 years and older who subscribes to our PUUC Covenant and the Principles and Purposes of the UUA.
- Before joining, we ask that you attend one or more Newcomer Orientations, and have an informal conversation with the membership chair, Bernadine Cutilletta, or our minister, Rev. Robin Tanner. Questions about our church, Unitarian Universalism, and the responsibilities of membership are welcome at these sessions.
- A brief ritual for formally joining the church (involving signing a membership card, a pledge card, and our PUUC Membership Book) is usually done on the third Sunday of every month. You may join at other times, if you have completed your orientation, by meeting with Bernadine or Rev. Tanner.
- Becoming a member of the PUUC congregation allows you to vote on congregational matters and elect officers to the Board, as well as eligibility to become a Board Member. It also involves a commitment of time and a financial commitment to the functioning of the church.
